Instituto Brasileiro de Gemas e Metais Preciosos (IBGM)

Founded in 1977, Instituto Brasileiro de Gemas e Metais Preciosos (IBGM), the Brazilian Gems & Jewellery Trade Association, (IBGM) is a national, private and non-profit organisation, with headquarters in Brasília and a branch office in São Paulo. It represents the entire production chain of the gems and the jewellery industry in Brazil.

In fact, IBGM acts as a confederation of the country’s 18 states and national associations directly connected to the manufacture and trade of precious stones, fine jewellery, fashion jewellery, precious metals and related items. In addition to the associations, there are presently 45 members from the most representative companies of the production chain.

The association represents at national level the interests and needs of the industry before the government, provides training and information, and actively promotes the sector through a series of events, nationwide and internationally. Structurally, the association includes a Board of Directors and an Audit Committee made up of entrepreneurs from the industry, and a professional Executive Board.

In conducting its initiatives, IBGM is proud to count on the invaluable support of the Government of Brazil; SEBRAE, the Brazilian Service of Support for Micro and Small Enterprises; and APEX-Brasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.

IBGM is Brazil’s representative in CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, and is a member of the International Coloured Gemstone Association (ICA).
